World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.
If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will gain 3percent of its previous damage for every time it's upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. item upgrading can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

Glyphs

Leveling
The system of upgrading items lets players increase the performance of certain items by placing upgraded components in them. This is commonly known as "upping". When a player upgrades an item it will be replaced with a new item. This means that the same armor piece will become an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also comes with its own bonus. This can be a downside in that the item could become more expensive even if you do not require it.
The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that has a base of level 1 and completely different bonuses. This is a good idea, but shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.
Some upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or is able to swim like dolphins). Requirements
