item upgrading Upgrade
The statistics of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases a stat linearly.
Players can recycle six items at once to gauge each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling an item scales according to its rarity and.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to boost the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be done through various methods that include using upgrade components and upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their stats.
Upgradeable items can be found throughout the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. Upgrade components are the most common way to upgrade equipment. These are the items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots that can be upgraded and some require a specific level of upgrade. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses while others provide general bonuses.
There are a variety of upgrade components that are available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. The universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments, can be placed on any equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrades that are specific to equipment. Glyphs are only available on gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing extra crafting material.
To upgrade an item, select it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The window will show an overview on the right side of the screen that shows the expected stats after the upgrade, along with any materials or components required. If you don't have enough of either the upgrade button will say Blocked.
The upper-right side of the screen shows the amount of upgrade components required for the specific item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the level of the upgrade and its rarity, however it can be reduced using a variety of methods, including purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them with other players.
Almost all weapons can be upgraded by a prefix upgrade for example, an insignia or a rune, and a lot of them are upgraded by an upgrade suffix. These upgrades add an adjective to the name of the item, such as "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The glyphs' animation mimics the body language and makes them more effective in conveying a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs also improve the retention of messages by creating an experience of familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph can increase a stat's value by a certain range. This is clearly displayed on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the maximum value that the glyph can improve a stat by, not the amount that it actually improves the stat by. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier as well as the quality of the product you are enchanting.
The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. However, if you have a rune or glyph that has not yet been applied to your gear, you can move it to a different piece of equipment by utilizing the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can take out any glyph with the help of the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item within which it is placed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, so this should not be considered a loss.
When you take away an item after adding a glyph the shards that are part of the glyph will vanish. You can also apply the glyph on your equipment to provide an additional benefit. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and then be dealt slowly to the wearer rather than all at one time. This is useful for players who suffer lots of damage from enemies, but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes of weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, including mysterious boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with an affix randomly chosen and usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items do not appear in the menu of upgrade options, but they can be upgraded. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is by the item's rarity as well as its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable for recycling than lower-leveled ones.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling Weapon Traits for upgraded units. Rerolls roll a percentage chance for a weapon's trait. If it rolls higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolls are a good option for upgrading an item, but players must be aware that it could reduce the overall ilvl the weapon by the number of rerolls required in order to increase it to its final ilvl. This is evident on rings and Diadems, as they have no other options for raising ilvl.
Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It would be fairer to let people pay for it with cash or food items that would allow players to make adjustments to their builds without having to spend too much time. The developers do not plan to introduce paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. They plan to add a potion that will allow players to alter their race in the future.
Leveling
There are many ways to upgrade an item. The first method of leveling up an item upgrade is to increase the amount of upgrade. This boosts the value of an upgrade for a stat. The second is to boost the upgrade effect, which increases the healing or damage of a particular stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. After this, the new item will retain its iLevel but it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded item type.
It is important to remember that upgrades are random. Most of the time the chance of a better roll will come from the glyphs, however there are also opportunities for more or unique rolls. The type of the item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a specific item type, it has a chance of receiving an additional level.
Upgrades can be costly, especially if you are upgrading equipment from the standard track to the legendary. The cost will depend on the item's base iLevel and the number of upgrade levels it offers. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests in order to achieve the next upgrade level.
If you're fortunate the upgraded item will get to the top of its upgrade track and unlock an additional effect. This will provide a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level however. Generally speaking the upgrade effect is increased by a number of +3.
The iLevel also changes depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For example an item upgraded from a rare or unique item to an outstanding one will have the chance to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
